Adding Mid-Growth Yield to Secular Trends Portfolio (CHL, BMY, AA)

Posted on | September 29, 2008 Time: 4:15 pm |

Because the Secular Trends Portfolio needs to have a long view of the horizon, I am stepping in today to pick up some mid-to-high yielding names that offer some growth opportunities. Today’s market is rife with landmines, and picking up Alcoa (AA) along with its 3% yield could be one of them. The company’s cash flow is strong and debt/equity remains in the .5 level, which is allowing me to get past the high overall debt load.

Full thesis presentations for China Mobile (CHL), Bristol Myers (BMY), and Alcoa will be posted later in the day. Starting with a 2% position in each; 425 shares CHL @ $46.75, 1000 shares BMY @ $20.75, and 900 shares Alcoa at @ $22.16
